Heralded by many as 'E-Type 50', 2011 is an important year for the E-Type Jaguar - its 50th anniversary. Arguably the most influential and celebrated piece of automotive design ever to come out of the our small island, Enzo Ferrari called it the most beautiful car ever made, and in 1961 just about everybody wanted one.
I wasn't about in 1961, but I've had a love affair with the car ever since I first set eyes on one at a Classic Car show as a child. In 2000 I drooled over 9600HP, the prototype E-Type that was driven (at high speed) by Norman Dewis for its launch at the Geneva Car Show of 1960, while designing The Most Famous Car in the World with Orion Books and Philip Porter. And just before Christmas I was lucky enough to introduce to the family EMU8J, a lovely, original series 2 car from 1970
Now we're looking forward to getting to know each other during E-Type 50 - highlight at the moment looks like the Goodwood Revival. Classic stuff!

That's one hot car! You won't even need to see the interior to be convinced to own one! Are cars like that still on sale?
